Seeing the Good in One Another.

Finding the good in the workplace bully, victim or bystander involves gratitude and finding value in the effort that it takes to change organizational culture. Deciding to work with employees who do not get along is a major step for an organization, and it is an announcement of good faith that each employee has the capacity for change and for seeing the good in one another. Gratitude fosters self-efficacy and is an agentic mechanism that increases the sense of personal competence and value for personally chosen goals and efforts in the workplace. The level of support that team members give to one another in the workplace can be the defining factor for superior performance far above efforts derived from organizational reward and recognition alone. Supportive climates build trust, better communication, and free-flowing information exchange. Gratitude is a communal agent and helps employees feel connected and valued. Without gratitude in the workplace, defensiveness increases, which becomes a barrier to success at every level of operation.
